Closure for the Sawyer Family |
To: Connecticut State Police DepartmentA news report on many stations, both local and national, revealed that a suspension for Trooper Robert Peasley has been handed down.....for only 15 days. This man's efforts, or lack thereof, helped claim the life of Justin Sawyer, a 21-year-old, who was having fun and crashed his motorcycle.
The following is an excerpt from the conversation that was held:
"State police 911.
Yeah I want to report a street bike accident on Incinerator Road in Taftville. Someone crashed on their street bike.
"Yeah... too bad."
The "Yeah....too bad" was the voice of Trooper Robert Peasley, who showed no concern or care for this accident. Instead, he must have had better things to do.
It took three calls for the dispatcher to send someone out. This dispatcher was someone other than Trooper Robert Peasley. A week after those calls, Justin Sawyer died from a severe head injury.
Although the state police is apologizing, their actions of suspending Trooper Peasley for only 15 days shows otherwise. His lack of professionalism and disconcern for the community is evident. Instead of just a 15 day suspension, he should be relieved of his duties. If anyone ever did that in a private sector, they would be out of a job the next day.
Forget his 18 years of experience - everyone needs to be held reliable in this world. And Trooper Peasley needs to be held responsible for his actions - and it's time to show him exactly what he helped cause.
A 15 day suspension is just a slap on the wrist for this state trooper. We, the undersigned, want to see Trooper Peasley removed from his position, and be let go completely from the police department. It would add much closure for the Sawyer family, as well as thousands of people across the nation.
Sincerely,
