Plea for the Release of the Original Cindrella Production

We, the undersigned, hereby state our request for the remastering and distribution of CBS’s 1957 broadcast of “Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.” By doing so, we inquire of you: What is better than a beloved childhood classic being performed by one of America’s best loved actresses? The answer to this question is simple: Taking this rare production and sharing it with every person having access, and more so, every fan of Julie Andrews, Jon Cypher, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, et al.

If you searched long enough, we are sure you could find someone who remembers the time they saw Julie Andrews sing song after song written by your very own Rodgers and Hammerstein, and how exultant it made them feel when they saw that the slipper really did fit her.

We are certain that you have seen how popular this show is. Take a look at the sales made from your distribution of ABC’s 1997 revival production starring Brandi, Bernadette Peters, Whoopi Goldberg (only to name a few). You have made two productions available on DVD & VHS. There is no reason why the original should not be released as well.

We hope very much so that you, the co-owners of this presentation, will do your part in making it a timeless classic all over again. All we ask is that you encourage CBS to issue this masterpiece for the public’s home-viewing.

You proudly state on your website how in 1957 the New York Daily Mirror stated of this production, “There is magic in what they did, as though a fairy's wand has touched it all and made it sing and shine.” Why not express your pride in a greater way?
