We, the undersigned, petition you to discontinue ignoring Ron Weasley in favour of Hermione Granger in the film adaptations of JK Rowling’s phenomenal Harry Potter series. Mr. Kloves has been known to say that he loves Hermione. That’s fine, so do most people. However, the film adaptations are letting Ron go in favour of Hermione, which is becoming more and more disconcerting. We believe the script should stay true to Ms Rowling’s characterisations. Hermione is continuously given Ron’s lines out of the books, which has never been a serious problem before. However now, with the third movie, Hermione was given the line that sums up Ron’s character and his friendship with Harry Potter. It is one of the most powerful lines that Ron has up to date in the series, and it was disappointing to see it given to Hermione by Mr. Kloves. The line from the book, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is as follows:

"If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!" he said fiercely, though the effort of standing upright was draining him of still more color, and he swayed slightly as he spoke.

"Did you hear me?" Ron said weakly, though he was clinging painfully to Harry to stay upright. "You'll have to kill all three of us!"

These two “little” lines are a turning point in the development of Ron Weasley’s character. Please don’t let Ron, a major player in the books, become nothing more than a sidekick who lacks intelligence because of a personal preference of the script writer.
