SAVE ALL THE RIVERVIEW LANDS IN PERPETUITY
KEEP THE ENTIRE 244 ACRES AS PUBLIC LANDS
FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS
PRESERVE THE RIVERVIEW LANDS FOR
BOTANICAL GARDENS AND ARBORETUM
Build a village-like community for people with mental illness and addictions on the Riverview Lands.
We support community living, community care, and community centers in a park-like setting. This is a unique opportunity to provide a decent home and care facilities for the ever-increasing number of people with mental illness, and to allow these people to be treated in a humane and thoughtful way.
We urge the Provincial Government to preserve from extinction this one of a kind healing sanctuary, and to visualize with us for future generations a NEW COMMUNITY for the mentally ill, providing a peaceful, safe, and tranquil setting with appropriate levels of housing, care, and ancillary services.
We support research facilities, including alternative therapies and approaches.
We support educational facilities for training staff, and crisis response teams.
We support providing various educational and learning programs with the appropriate resources for the mentally ill.
We support preservation of existing heritage buildings, heritage landscape, green space, trees, gardens, creeks, and wildlife.
We support the maintenance of the Riverview cemetery for those who consider Riverview their home.
We oppose any private development on the remaining 244 acres of Riverview Hospital Public Lands.
We oppose market housing and private investment.
The future of the Riverview lands should be decided by all BC residents, not only those living in Coquitlam and Tri-Cities area.
