This is an appeal from friends and citizens of Kolkata to the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya to take some effective action in the matter of the late Rizwanur Rahman and Priyanka Todi.

We demand
1. That a CBI investigation be ordered to find out who threatened Rizwanur and his friends and the situation in which he died.
2. That the Police Commissioner, Mr. Prasun Mukherjee, be asked to step down immediately for displaying an appalling ignorance of the rule of law with the comments he made in a press conference
3. That the guilty be brought to justice
4. That there be mandatory training for police on how a democracy is supposed to work and what constitutes extrajudicial action
5. That our beloved city be rescued from the venal nexus of corrupt politicians and policemen and the moneyed class.
6. That the adult citizens of Kolkata, who face everything, from flooded streets to berserk auto-drivers, with a smile on their faces, be allowed to lead their personal lives according to their wishes, without interference from an out-of-control police department.
