To:  Harmony Gold USA, Inc.

We the undersigned, fans of the animated series ROBOTECH, demand that Harmony Gold USA, Inc. (hereafter referred to simply as HG) complete all 65 episodes of the sequel entitled ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS - production of which was halted after three episodes.

HG representatives have stated that the company is interested in producing new cel animation, on its web site ROBOTECH.COM. However, due to the almost complete lack of any material relating to the unfinished ROBOTECH II sequel on the site, and from statements made by company representatives through posts on the site's message boards: everything suggests that HG wants to start anew with a completely different project, code-named ROBOTECH 3000.

It is our belief, that HG is more concerned with making a new ROBOTECH production easier for themselves (logistically and financially), than they are in what the fans of ROBOTECH truly want to see in a sequel. By starting completely anew with a different style of characters and mecha, they would not have to pay any additional licensing fees to the original Japanese creators of the animation used in ROBOTECH, nor would they need to track down the original voice cast. The company also would not have to sort out the mess - that they themselves created, through irresponsible licensing practices - as to what is the official "canon" version of the ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS story.

We want to make it clear to HG, through this petition, that we want them to finish what they started: regardless of the difficulty involved. We want to see a series that continues the adventures of our favorite established characters, and not an entirely new series that bears little or no resemblance to its predecessor other than in title. We also want to see the cel animation drawings done with quality that exceeds the original ROBOTECH series . . . certainly better than what was seen in the three ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS episodes produced.

With the release of ROBOTECH, and just recently ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS, for sale on DVD: there has never been a better time to consider resuming production of the unfinished sequel. Sales of the DVDs, and other new merchandise now being offered, would help to finance new animation. ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS could be done as a straight-to-DVD release at first, to further help recoup cost of the production. Then the sequel could be broadcast on television, along with its predecessor ROBOTECH, to bring in more revenue from advertising.

To paraphrase a quote by Carl Macek (the creator of ROBOTECH), from the book ROBOTECH ART 3, regarding the release of the three produced episodes of ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS: "If Harmony Gold did not feel strongly about the project, The Sentinels would never have left the cutting room. Frank Agrama [President of HG] backed the project whole-heartedly. It would be his gift to the thousands of ROBOTECH fans . . .". If you felt strongly about it then: we ask you now, the executives of HG, to deliver that gift, IN FULL.

Finish ROBOTECH II: THE SENTINELS.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
