For the past six years we have lived under an administration that has chosen to push power at the expense of the people and we are ready to embark on this great journey of helping America embrace a different kind of politics a politics that believes in the voices of the people; a politics that values global empathy and cooperation; a politics that dares to defy the odds and reflects the ideals that make this country so great.

We believe that distinguished leaders like you have the ability to restore the values and beliefs we hold so dear. Many years ago, as a young child in Sumter, you held fast to your dreams of becoming involved in public service even in the face of opposition and apprehension. Your audacity of hope, combined with dedication, gave the segregated South a glimpse of what the future held. You have successfully sponsored and co-sponsored legislation that called for a redeployment of U.S. forces in Iraq, honoring our outstanding service men and women for their efforts in protecting our freedom, and sought to provide equal quality health care for every American citizen.

We believe that you have an important role in deciding whom the Democratic Party nominates to become the next President of the United States. We are asking you to endorse Barack Obama as he champions the causes of the American people. You are both visionary leaders who can help America fulfill its great promises to people here at home and within the larger international community. You were both among the first to see the foolishness of this war, and you are both calling on America to do the only responsible thing and redeploy our troops. You both faced opposition in your quest to become great leaders and proved to America that its time for unity and harmony. Together, we can make a real difference, not just in this election cycle, but in the long term. Your support of Barack Obama can ensure the accomplishment of the progressive goals you have stood for during your distinguished years of service. Lets take back our country!
