Stay At Home Parents Day |
To: Lt. Governor of Illinois, U.S. Congress, and President of the United States of AmericaThis petition is addressed to the Lt. Governor of Illinois, the U.S. Congress and President of the United States of America.
The citizens of the United States of America, in recognition of the importance of family and those who sacrifice to strengthen it as a core value of America, hereby request that a national holiday, March 10th of every year, to be named “Stay At Home Parent Day” be set aside as a national day of honor and recognition for the mother and fathers who sacrifice so much to nurture one of the fundamental elements of society, our children.
While Americans will be free to celebrate however they deem necessary, the encouraged method will be this: that the working parent takes the day off to spend at home, giving the usually “at home” parent the day off.
With the current culture, mode of “hurry”, emphasis on profit-making and efficient usage of time, it can be easy to forget and look past something as important as appreciating those who make it possible for many of us to do the jobs we do. We should probably do even more, and hopefully many do. The least we could do is recognize it on the State and/or National level.
Sincerely,
