Urgent Call for support: UofT Student Union to be evicted from office space

Whereas APUS (the Association of Part-time Undergraduate Students at the University of Toronto), has been told to vacate their office space at Woodsworth College by the end-of-term.

Whereas there was no consultation by the Office of Students Affairs, no apology, no acknowledgement of the impact on part-time students, and no offer of equivalent space offered to APUS.

Whereas Woodsworth College was established in 1974 for part-time students, through the efforts and financial support of part-time students and APUS.

We, the undersigned, call on the University Administration to respect the right of APUS to represent and serve the needs of part-time undergraduate students at the University of Toronto.

We call for an immediate moratorium on the eviction of APUS from the Woodsworth College office location at 119 St. George Street until full consultation has taken place with APUS, and equivalent office space is found.

We call on Woodsworth College to re-affirm its commitment and support for the work of APUS (44\% of WDW students are APUS members).

We call on the Office of Student Affairs to stop working against the interest of Student Unions and their elected representatives.

Last year, over 6,200 winter and 11,800 summer students pursued part-time studies in every college at all three campuses of the University."

Students represented by APUS are proud members of the Canadian Federation of Students, local 97.
