Save Missouri Teacher Career Ladder Programs |
To: Missouri General AssemblyPetition to
Save Missouri Teacher Career Ladder Programs
Whereas: Career Ladder support provides Missouri students with:
Over 455,000 hours of after-school tutoring
Over 247,000 hours of direct parent contact
Over 24,000 hours of mentoring
Over 426,000 hours of teacher professional development
Over 514,000 hours of curriculum and instructional improvement
Whereas: Elimination of state Career Ladder support could result in significant salary reductions for approximately 18,000 Missouri teachers, many of whom teach in our lowest paying school districts, and
Whereas: State Senator Gary Nodler and Representative Allen Icet have announced that the legislature no longer intends to provide Career Ladder funding,
We the undersigned call on the Missouri General Assembly to continue state support of the Career Ladder program without interruption in these crucial services to our students and compensation for the teachers that provide them.
Sincerely,
