SAVE the Q26

SAVE THE Q26 & Q27
The ability to travel easily to work, to school, is an essential part of the fabric of modern civilization. The MTA budget doomsday budget cuts are threatening to eliminate the Q26 route runs which from 46th Avenue by the No. 7 subway to Francis Lewis and Hollis Court boulevards in Fresh Meadows.
Students at St. Francis Prep rely on this bus to go to school. For them this is a vital link to their education. Residents need this bus to go to work. Without the Q26, riders would need to take multiple buses, for example St. Francis Prep students would likely need to take the Q27 to the Q76 adding significantly to their commute time. For residents the rerouting would also be as drastic and mean longer hours commuting rather than working or spending time with their families.
The Q27 line is not capable of handling the excess ridership that would result in the cuts to the Q26, which could also prolong transit times.
We ask the MTA to Save the Q26 and Q27. Do not cut the Q26 and protect the Q27.
(This petition is to be submitted March 25, 2009 to the MTA board.)

In addition, you may write our local elected officials who represent areas affected by the Q26 & Q27. They are supportive of protecting our bus routes and letters of support help.
