Save Our Books! Calling Readers Everywhere |
To: U.S. CongressTo: The Congress of the United States of America
We The Undersigned
Urge the U.S. Congress to act to protect the use and sale of antique and used books. Today, whether by intention or accident, that use is threatened by a law passed last August which makes it illegal to lend or sell any children's books printed before 1985 because of the potential of lead in those books. This means that libraries AND used book stores (both in our communities and online) will not be able to sell decades of classic books. What a tragic loss for our nation!
Please act now to pass an exception which allows the reasonable use of old and treasured books throughout our nation, and prevent the decimation of our libraries.
Please act now to Save our Books!
Sincerely,
