Resolved:

That the Sesame Street character “Cookie Monster” abandon his new “Cookies are a sometimes food” motto, and the relating image thereof.

Brief:

The below signed are in agreement that the Cookie Monster holds a special place in nostalgic television history and in our childhood memories. The Cookie Monster has been captivating fans since the days of the Ed Sullivan Show and it is in poor taste that Sesame Workshop has re-drawn Cookie Monster’s image in response to childhood obesity. We are of like mind in believing that the Cookie Monster did not encourage unhealthy habits in children in the past, and therefore is a poor candidate for the promotional of healthier foods. We understand that as the producers of a children’s educational show, you are challenged to meet the obligations of instilling healthy habits in young people. However, we feel that this goal can be meant without sacrificing the integrity of an American icon. Our collective suggestions include healthier cookies for Cookie Monster to eat and/or the introduction of a new vegetable loving character. However it should be clear that Cookie Monster should not be subjected to vegetables nor should he have to give up his steady diet of cookies.
