From those who are positively affected by the current, continued operation of the Brantford Municipal Airport and its businesses:

We petition the City and County in regards to the upcoming service review that would place in jeopardy the continued existence of the airport at Brantford, Ontario, Canada, with all of its services to the surrounding community of families, workers, pilots, students, and businesses, as well as the economic spin-off generated therein.

The airport has a number of long-standing, healthy relationships with the Brantford and Brant County public, nearby businesses and charities, and the larger air services community as a whole, across Ontario, Canada, the US, and even overseas. It provides a transportation hub for the blind students who study at W. Ross MacDonald to be able to go home to their families on weekends. It attracts people every year to the United Way Air Show. It has a reputation for being one of the best places for general aviation services, without all the hassles of larger airports. It draws people from other cities, especially in Ontario and the northern US, to spend money at Brantford businesses while they stay. Its businesses have, for a number of years now, been building relationships with clients in Central America, South America, Europe, and neutral countries in the Middle East. All of this has taken place despite a sometimes wavering amount of support from the City.

It is especially flawed and frustrating to watch the City conduct a service review at a time when it should be, and was, improving and solidifying relationships with members of the airport community. A number of business transactions regarding the airport are now on hold because of the uncertainty that such a review brings. We are certain the airport deserves the City's support, but the City being willing to spend time and money on a review rather than on actual improvements to the airport frankly would indicate a lack of good direction on their part.
