Save York Memorial

To:  Toronto District School Board

There is a plan to eliminate York Memo and George Harvey and to establish one new school with a new name and two campuses.

York Memorial is extremely successful and oversubscribed, while George Harvey has not been successful in attracting students. This plan is intended to save George Harvey, at the cost of our school.

The proposal comes from our school trustee and superintendent in order to immortalize them in the educational hall of fame (or shame when this proposal fails).

We, the undersigned, are steadfastly opposed to this plan. We believe that York Memorial should remain an independent school, maintaining its unique history and integrity.

We believe that merging the two schools will undermine the distinctiveness of each school. Both schools have much to offer to their respective student populations, and combining them will only hinder their ability to properly serve their students.
