To the Commission Board of the Westview-Fairforest Fire District:

As taxpayers of the Westview-Fairforest Fire District, we are concerned with the actions of the Westview-Fairforest FD Board of Commissioners. We do not feel as if the Commission Board is effectively and efficiently performing the duties required to manage the Westview-Fairforest FD. Our main concerns include:

• The Position of the Fire Chief – The position of Fire Chief requires not only someone with a firefighting background, but also a person with business fundamentals. Your last two appointments of Fire Chief were not suitable appointments. We demand someone that can put this fire department back on top and give us the protection we deserve. Therefore, we demand the termination of both of these individuals.

• Taxpayers’ Money – We pay our taxes every year and expect to see vast improvements and growth of our local fire department. However, there is nothing to show but debt for the dollars that we paid to support the fire department in the last two years.

• Fire Protection – This fire district operated out of one station for many years. As the district grew, we watched our tax dollars being spent wisely to add two new stations to help insure that every inch of this district had the absolute closest fire protection possible. Now, two fire stations are shut down, increasing the response time to some of us. We are not happy with this decision.

We would like to summarize by stating that we are not at all impressed in your management of the Westview-Fairforest Fire District. We feel as if your time on this Commission Board has not been spent with the taxpayers in mind. Therefore we demand that each of you remove yourselves from the Board of Commissioners. The Westview-Fairforest FD will not have the support of the taxpayers until we hear of your resignation and the termination of the Interim Chief and the demoted former Chief. By signing this petition we also ask for the reinstatement of the Assistant Chief terminated February 26, 2009 who has been with WFFD for 23 years. He was terminated with no just cause by this current administration.
