Scottish surnames: More and more in the press, and even in the BT Phonebook, the second capital letter in Scottish surnames is being demoted to lower case. For example, Macdonald instead of MacDonald, Macbeth instead of MacBeth. As all Scots know, the Mac in their surname means Son of and, consequently, the second capital letter is important, as that part of the name is the actual surname. You would not write son of Donald with a small D, so why accept MacDonald with a small D. Stop this trend in its tracks by signing this petition now, and write/email/phone BT to complain if you have a Scottish surname written without the second capital letter in their phone book. Our names are a unique and important part of our Scottish Heritage. You would never find the Irish accepting Obrien instead of OBrien, so why should the Scots accept less.
