To:  Iowa Legislature and Ankeny City Council

We, the undersigned, are shocked by the unprecedented and tyrannical stance of the City of Ankeny, Iowa as they have violated the public trust and used tax money to go after the Sanderson Family Christmas display (http://www.SandersonFamilyChristmas.com) as a public nuisance before it was ever built. And, further, that they persist in that stance despite the fact that this display has generated virtually no problems for the City or neighbors, and that such displays enrich the holiday season for thousands of visitors.

Insofar as the City of Ankeny is attacking traditions held universally dear, holds a position that is hostile to families that have a right to view such displays, and is repressing the right of citizens to share the true meaning of Christmas in a unique and positive way, we call upon the City of Ankeny to completely reverse their untenable stance on this issue. We further call upon the Iowa Legislature to pass legislation that will facilitate the rights of citizens and prevent this kind of abuse by cities like Ankeny, Iowa in the future.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
