It is with great shock and disappointment that the Classic Rock Song "Stairway To Heaven" has not been cleared for use by the Classic Comedy Series, SCTV. It is our opinion, that this beloved Rock Classic has greatly enhanced the program SCTV in it's sketches "The Happy Wanderers", as well as the sketch "Stairways To Heaven", which features several wonderfully comedic versions of the song in a K-Tel record offer. The use of "Stairway To Heaven" on SCTV relects the vast impact this song has had on popular culture and fans of Led Zeppelin. Indeed, this sketch has probably even created new generations of fans since this song was orginaly released in 1971.

To us, it is a sad moment when the owners and creators of a classic like "Stairway To Heaven" cannot allow the use of such a song in a simple comedy sketch or two. This situation not only hurts the fans who love SCTV, the creators of SCTV, but this can also hurt the creators of the song "Stairway To Heaven", Led Zeppelin. Their lack of tolerance and sensitivity to fans of SCTV and fans of their song "Stairway To Heaven" can only create hurt feelings. At this very critical time in the music industry, when so much is at stake, it is our opinion that more goowill can be achieved by graciously allowing the use of a few minutes of music in a TV series such as SCTV.

We respectfully request that Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Atlantic Recording Corp. and Warner Brothers Music Corp. give permission to the copyright owners of SCTV to continue to use the song "Stairway To Heaven" in their program and that Shout! Factory may be allowed to use "Stairway To Heaven" on their SCTV DVD box sets which are continuing to be released. Thank You.
