Save Art in New York City |
Thank you all! We Won! The Certificate of Appropriateness was unanimously approved today!
To: Landmarks Preservation Commission, NYCWe urge the Commission to retroactively grant the permit to install sculpture on the facade of the building at 24 Bond St, New York. Bond Street is part of the Noho special zoning district which was created to allow artists to live and work in factories that had been abandoned. It is now a thriving community, thanks in large part to the artists living there.
The sculpture was started over ten years ago, before the area was designated an landmark district. The artist, Bruce Williams, is certified by the Department of Cultural Affairs to live and work in this building. His sculpture is a valuable addition to the cultural tradition of the area and helps preserve the tradition of art in New York.
Images of the sculpture are available at http://scultore.wordpress.comSincerely,
