Réaménagement du chemin McConnell (english will follow)

La Ville de Gatineau a fait préparer des plans pour reconstruire le chemin McConnell. On prévoit remplir les fossés, construire des trottoirs et des pistes cyclables et aménager des arrêts d’autobus. Le projet n’a pas été inclus dans la période budgétaire actuelle. Ainsi, s’il est remis à la prochaine période budgétaire, les travaux commenceraient au plus tôt en 2011. Le coût total étant estimé à 6 M$, les travaux seront probablement effectués en plusieurs étapes.
Entre 2000 et 2005, le nombre d’accidents sur le chemin McConnell est passé de 3 à 28. Malgré ce fait, la Ville de Gatineau ne considère pas que la sécurité soit un enjeu pour la reconstruction. À titre de résidents du secteur et utilisateurs du chemin McConnell nous demandons que le réaménagement du chemin McConnell devienne une priorité justifiée pour des raisons de sécurité.

Reconstruction of McConnell Road

Plans to reconstruct McConnell Road have been prepared for the City of Gatineau. These plans include filling in the ditches, creating pedestrian and bicycle paths and constructing bus turn outs. The work has not been included in the current budget period. If it is included in the next budget period the earliest that the reconstruction could be carried out would be in 2011. The overall cost is estimated at $6 million so that it will likely be done in several stages.
Between 2000 and 2005 the number of accidents on McConnell Road increased nine-fold, from three to twenty eight. Despite this the City of Gatineau does not consider the reconstruction a “safety issue”! As residents in the area and users of McConnell Road we ask that the reconstruction be made a priority on the basis of safety.
