This is an online petion to request a special edition DVD or Blu-ray release of the 1972 Sidney Lumet film "The Offence". We believe it is a travesty of cinema that this film has never been released on DVD in the US and has only seen a bare minimum DVD in other countries. The film is directed by an American, Sidney Lumet, who is a master of his craft and is considered one of the greatest directors in film today. The star of the film, Sean Connery, is an internationally known and highly respected actor, the majority of whose films have seen multiple international home video releases and have ensured that they will be remembered for decades to come. When these factors, along with the strength of the supporting cast (Ian Bannen (who was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his performance), Trevor Howard and Vivien Merchant) are taken into account, it seems unfitting that this film should be lost to history in the way it has been.
We therefore ask that suitable companies acquire the video rights to "The Offence" and see that it is given a proper and dignified interantional DVD release. If possible, a Blu-ray release would be much appreciated. We also implore these companies to act before the remaining living participants in the film pass away, as their input could be used for any supplemental features.
