We, the undersigned, residents of Western Canada living in Shaw serviced areas, believe that the English version of Al-Jazeera should be made available to the public in Shaw's Full Cable bundle, if not Basic Cable.

We feel that English Al-Jazeera (EA-J) would provide a different prospective on the world covering different stories than the Western media would cover. We strongly believe in freedom of speech and therefore feel that it is neccesary to bring this new channel into Canada for the first time.

We recognize that there are people who believe that even English Al-Jazeera is affiliated to terrorism and extremely biased, but many stations, even Canadian, are biased. With respect to people who believe there is pro-terrorism news, even if that were true, we live in a free country and nobody is forced to watch anything.

As shown by their own web site, EA-J is broadcasted by dozens of companies worldwide, including a few minor American ones, but there are no Canadian ones. We believe that it should be placed as a regular channel given the same treatment as channels like CBC Newsworld and CNN, not as a specialty, extra cost channel on digital cable. There are also anchors and journalists working for EA-J from England, America and Canada. Some people are expressing opposition to having the news station in Canada, but we believe that seeing there are people who would like to see it, we as customers have the right to watch it.

Therefore, we request that English Al-Jazeera be made available on Full Cable, if not Basic Cable, before the end of the year 2007.
