We, the undersigned, show our support and desire for a Shirley Holmes full-length TV movie.

The Adventures of Shirley Holmes (52 * 22 min episodes, 1996-1999) introduced an intelligent, eccentric lead character played by Meredith Henderson in a series that defined itself by proving that a popular teen series could succeed with a strong female lead, well-defined supporting characters and scripts that encouraged their audience to 'play detective' with the cast on the trail of mysteries in each episode. This strategy proved very successful, with a highly interactive fan community that has taken the characters to heart producing over 80 very high quality fan fictions.

Fans continue to discover and enjoy the show as it airs in new and existing markets around the world, and, four years after the show completed its production run, the Shirley Holmes Central website (http://welcome.to/shirley_holmes) continues to receive several hundred visitors per week from over 20 countries around the world. There is strong support within the existing Shirley Holmes Fan Community to see the characters in their college years. The demographic of the websites belies the expected target audience, with a majority of website visitors in the 16-25 age group, creating a sustained demand for more mature storylines involving the characters. A TV movie would be an excellent way to achieve this now that the cast is also older.

Both the show’s stars, Meredith Henderson and John White, are excited at the possibility of revisiting their characters and are fully supportive of the TV movie. Writer Beth Stewart is also on board and is interested in developing the script.

Please accept this petition as our request for a Shirley Holmes movie to be financed and produced.
