“Some Sheikhs and Imams have encouraged sectarian conflict by making
statements that give their blessing to discrimination, the killing of
people from other sects or faiths and destruction of their holy sites and
places of worship.

Please will you take a stand to stop these people from airing extreme
views, and work to promote a culture of acceptance of different faiths and
a rejection of violence?
By taking this stand you will be rejecting those
who teach that people should be killed simply for holding different
beliefs. You will be reducing the harmful effects of the extremists, and
showing that there is no religious basis for their claims.

We uphold freedom of expression, but must also respect the value of human
life and the rights to freedom of thought and worship.

إن بعضا من الشيوخ و أئمة المساجد يقومون بدور محوري في إذكاء الصراع الطائفي من خلال الدعوات التي تجيز وتبارك قتل المختلفين في عقيدتهم والتمييز ضدهم وتدمير عتباتهم المقدسة.
إننا ندعوكم لاتخاذ موقف لإيقاف هذه المجموعات عن بث دعواتها المتطرفة، والعمل على تعزيز ثقافة قبول العقائد المختلفة ونبذ العنف.
إن تصريحا أو فتوى منكم تعلن براءتكم ممن يحلون سفك الدم البشري أو الاعتداء على الآخرين أو على مقدساتهم لمجرد اختلاف العقيدة والفكر أو المذهب أو الدين، تفرغ دعوات المتطرفين من فعاليتها وتوضح أنه لا أساس ديني لتلك الدعوات.
إننا نحترم حرية التعبير ولكن حرمة حياة الإنسان وحرية تفكيره وعقيدته وعبادته يجب احترامها أيضا.

وتقبلوا وافر الاحترام”
