The Save John Munch and Fin Tutuola from SVU Purgatory

Entertainment writer Meg Powell wrote, "This combination is electric, a word I don't use often. Munch and Fin shock the screen with their evident differences and yet vivid and triumphant similarities. This pairing is the best on L&O to date. They should have their own vehicle rather than be cast as second bananas to second-rate storylines." (July 11, 2003)


We submit that, despite the wide critical acclaim and popular support of Richard Belzer's "John Munch" and Ice-T's "Fin Tutuola", both characters have been given very little to do, demoted to bit players on someone else's TV show.

We the undersigned strongly suggest that (to safeguard our continued viewership) Munch and Fin be rescued from cute-one-liner obscurity and actually be given storylines on "Law and Order: SVU".

We would also suggest the following: (signers to this petition do not necessarily endorse this suggestion)

Barring the willingness for the L&O franchise to take time away from the Elliot/Olivia cop-domestic drama and/or the considerable storyline awarded to the Olivia and Alex relationship in response to a small but loud minority, we'd request the L&O franchise create another series for Munch and Fin, and free them from the SVU vehicle altogether.
