We, the fans of the Smokey and the Bandit trilogy, humbly ask you, Universal Pictures, to release the original version of "Smokey IS the Bandit, Part 3" as it originally was with Jackie Gleason playing both roles of the Bandit and Sheriff Buford T. Justice. We have long heard rumors of this film being in existence, but was re-cut with Jerry Reed portraying the Bandit. As with other fan petitions for films, such as Warner Bros. release of Richard Donner's version of Superman II, we feel it would be a great relief and will bring excitement to see this film as it was originally intended.
