We, the avid snowmobilers of the state of Wisconsin hereby urge and petition the Lawmakers and people of Wisconsin the following:
1. Stop all enactment of any un-constitutional laws in regards to snowmobiling that would not fairly apply to EACH and EVERY person that uses the public trails in the State of Wisconsin. This would include but not limited to: Punishing State of Wisconsin registered automobile drivers with stricter penalties that could not be enforced to snowmobilers that do not hold nor are required to have a WI State drivers license.
2. Repeal the 55mph at night speed limit after the 2008-2009 season. There has been no evidence to support any improvement in safety, nor is there the proper resource available to enforce this law at this time.
3. Take ANY means necessary to improve the safety of the snowmobile trails in the state of Wisconsin. Tougher penalties, larger fines and fair laws will be accepted by all of us, as long as they are reasonable and fair to everyone.
4. Stop the spread of slander and misinformation regarding alcohol use and snowmobiling in the state. While we agree that some riders are a problem, PROVEN facts have shown that the majority of riders are safe and responsible.
