Save Our Couch

We, the people who frequent the Car Lounge, would like to thank you for providing such a wonderful place for car enthusiasts of all types to partake in discussions about anything and everything automobilia. We know that you at Vortex Media must be very busy making sure all the forums are kept clean, and continuing to provide such useful and entertaining articles. We really appreciate everything you've done to create a community for car lovers.

However, I and some of my fellow loungers were dismayed at the recent inclusion of an advertisement to the car lounge mascot and symbol, the couch. The couch has become a symbol of a fellowhip of enthusiasts; anyone can relax on it's cushions and speak freely about that interesting car they saw on the freeway, or ask about OHV engines or locking differentials, or whatever! The couch has become a constant over the years I've lurked the lounge. Every time I open my browser and see that sweet, yellow, swedish masterpiece I get excited about what I could possibly learn about cars that day. Please don't cheapen that experience for us by insulting our noble friend with a bright flashy ad telling us to "get off the couch." Our couch deserves better than to be used to sell springs. Perhaps a compromise can be met? An ad next to, or below the couch? We know it must cost a small fortune to keep this site running, but some things must be kept sacred. You didn't see a cigarette ad on the Washington Monument during the Great Depression, did you?

It is because of this we do not demand, but we gently request that you please remove the advertisements from the car lounge couch.
