We the undersigned insist that the FIA (Fйdйration Internationale de l'Automobile) ignore those persons who might insist that you reconsider the decision made to add 25 seconds to the finishing time of Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) in the Formula 1 Belgium Grand-Prix (07th September 2008). We believe the decision that has been made to be correct
The rules state that Lewis Hamilton had to give position back to Kimi Raikkonen, which he did..... just. They also state that NO advantage should be gained by cutting corners and chicanes. Before Hamilton, through the use of slipstreaming, got position one back he was in a more advantageous position, i.e. closer to the back of the leading car, than he would have been had he NOT cut the corner. He then went on to gain further advantage over the leading car by slipstreaming and then overtaking it. Had he either NOT cut the corner or given back the advantage he had gained he would NOT have been able to carry out an overtaking move until probably later in the lap. The punishment should stand AND the driver should be spoken to or fined for his cheating actions.
