2008 Superdelegates |
To: DNC and SuperdelegatesHoward Dean, the Chair of the DNC, has expressed his fear that a brokered convention will be bad for the party and its nominee. He is right. He wants to work out a deal that will determine the nominee before the convention.
Both candidates should request that every superdelegate cast her or his vote for the candidate that wins the most votes in the whole primary and caucus process. The experience that superdelegates have in crafting positions and the shaping of an official platform is experience that should be available at the convention in the crafting of the new platform. Superdelegates should not be casting votes unconstrained by primaries and caucuses for the party nominee at the national convention.
This petition has two purposes, to encourage revision of rules at the national convention to remove voting rights for unpledged delegates in the nomination vote at the national convention, and to have unpledged delegates for 2008 vote for the candidate that wins the most delegates in the whole primary and caucus process.
Sincerely,
