Save the World: If we don't speak up who will?

Your Excellency,

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of the world. I value quality of life for every human on our globe and am deeply concerned that too many people live on a daily basis with the sufferings of overpopulation and a lack of basic education, particularly girls and women. I urge you to take a lead in safeguarding human happiness by implementing a pension that promotes family planning in developing countries. This pension would be granted to families who have fewer children: $3 US per day for one child, $2 US for two children and no payment if they have more. This would reduce pressure on developing countries with already limited resources, particularly in the areas of health care and food aid. By providing families with the safety net of a pension, they do not have to have more children with the view that some will survive to look after them in their old age. A lower population will also curb the increasing threat of extinction to animal and plant species.

I also encourage you to ensure all children receive a sound education in developing countries. Thus ensuring they have the knowledge to make informed decisions regarding life choices involving career and family planning. Without an education, they will remain unaware that they can live a life where they contribute to their culture and society, rather than merely consuming. By developing independence, the next generation will be able to take greater care of their own families and of their country’s culture and economy.

This simple scheme can bring benefit to all developing countries over the next 20 to 30 years. It will also directly impact on developed countries which regularly commit extensive funding to aid programmes in the developing world.
