A PLEA TO SAVE OUR FAMILIES, RELATIONS AND FRIENDS IN VANNI (Sri Lanka)


We are deeply shattered by the news we hear of our fellow Tamil people who are being held hostage by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Puthumathalan area in Northern Sri Lanka. It hurts us deeply when we see and hear the inhumane treatment to which they have been subjected to, by the ruthless LTTE, who are using innocent civilians as a shield to protect their leaders.

It is very clear that the present situation in Sri Lanka is nothing but a Hostage situation since people have to risk their lives to escape the grasps of the LTTE to come to the safety of Sri Lankan Forces where they are ensured their right to life.

We have seen and heard that they are being well looked after by the Security Forces by providing them food, medical attention and also shelter. Thus it is clear that it’s not the LTTE that will save our fellow Tamil people but the Security Forces.

They are our family our friends our own kith and kin…. Therefore we appeal to you to act against this inhuman treatment the LTTE has subjected our fellow Tamil people by keeping them as hostages to save their sorry selves.

We urgently appeal you to ensure their rights to life and to their rights to live with freedom of fear and force the LTTE to let them free… let them find their refuge.

We sincerely hope that you will act fast before the LTTE exterminate our families and friends in a naïve attempt to save their sorry selves.
