Free Parking in Downtown Santa Rosa

FREE PARKING
Downtown property owners currently pay for parking garages by a tax assessment. Businesses don't set parking policies or the hours of enforcement that target their customers. Most businesses don't open until after 10am, but enforcement starts at 8am and the city wants to extend enforcement to 8pm. Parking enforcement revenue is used for the General Fund leading to policies that harm downtown's vitality and punish customers. Free parking will stimulate downtown activity and commerce.

MORE STREET PARKING
Mendocino Avenue currently has 3 lanes through downtown, one south and two north. Adding angled parking by reducing Mendocino Ave to 1 lane in each direction will increase pedestrian and bicyclist safety by lowering traffic speed through Courthouse Square and make Downtown visitor friendly at minimal expense and time. Increased business downtown will aid the General Fund.

I support making parking free in downtown Santa Rosa, using parking enforcement revenue to only support parking operations, and adding angled parking on Mendocino Avenue.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
