In 1982, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) eliminated any restriction on the time allotted to commercials on public television. Since then, commercials have simply taken over; so much so that, in 2008, a one-hour program really lasts less than 42 minutes for over 18 minutes of commercials. Even more alarming is the fact that TV networks deliberately cut off some of the programming to bombard the viewers with even more commercials!

This situation has simply become unbearable. Internet users fill forums with complaints about the number of commercials interrupting their favorite TV shows, making it impossible to watch. People are so annoyed by the matter that they would rather pay for TiVo or downloaded shows so as to avoid the pain of having to go through commercials. This is a shame! No one should have to pay extra money in order to enjoy watching free TV.

As a result, we demand that the matter should be examined in Congress in order to force the FCC to legislate for a regulation of the time given to commercials on television.
