Save The Irish Public Service |
To: An Taoiseach, Irish Minister for Finance, Dail Eireann,Fridday 27th of march 2009 saw the Irish Government set a moratorium on Recruitment and Promotions in the Public Service in Ireland. The recruitment and promotion moratorium will operate in respect of the civil service, local authorities, non-commercial state bodies, the Garda Síochána and the Permanent Defence Forces. The arrangements have been modulated in relation to the education and health sectors to reflect the particular service needs in those sectors. The Minister for Finance will have the authority to allow for the filling of some vacancies in very exceptional circumstances. This is not the time to start eroding or public service, essential services such as nurses and gardí need to protected and reinforced. We need to move forward not back 10 years.
Sincerely,
