To:  Thunder Bay District Catholic School Board

At a regular Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board meeting held November 26, 2007, the board approved the study of St. John School for closure (located on 380 Ray Blvd.), by June 30, 2009. With this closure, it will require students to transfer to alternate educational institutes for their remaining school years. Corpus Christi School has been identified as the closest institute for their transfer. The transfer of these students will require new additions/construction to be made to Corpus Christi and the closure of the McKellar Ward central school.

We the undersigned are petitioning against closure of our local community school, based on the Ontario School Closure Policy in that St. John School is considered to be a substantial value/integral part of the current and future students of this area/Ward, the school being a value to the community it surrounds, it being a value to the school system and a value to the local economy.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
