From Andrea D'Ambra about the Per l'Abolizione Dei Costi Di Ricarica Dei Telefoni Cellulari Petition:

Update 2007.0126:   WE WON!!!!!!!!! After more than 820,000 signatures our petition was so strong to force the Italian Government to finally make a decree-law to abolish these "recharge-costs"!!!!!!! It will mean that now italian mobile phone companies have 30 days to respect this law and update their recharge cards and systems and then in Italy we will no more have this "costo di ricarica" but we will just pay the amount we will get on our mobile phone credit!!!!!
A Big thank you to PetitionOnline.com!
Andrea D'Ambra

Update 2006.1126:   The Italian Authorities finally closed the inquiry and they affirmed that the "recharge cost" is something that have to disappear because it happens only in Italy and it's something against the free market rules. Now we wait that they will act to abolish this cost.
Next to 800,000 people signed the petition!!!

Initial message:   My petition, named "D'Ambra Petition" as from my name was started last month of April against the "recharge costs" that exists only in Italy when people recharge the credit of a pre-paid gsm card for example people have to pay 25 euro to have 20 Euro as credit, 10 Euro to have 8 Euro etc.
Thanks to my petition, that got a big success in Italy, now, after 7 months we have more than 650,000 signatures and after just 1 month we got already more than 50,000 signatures. The EU Commission - DG Competition was interested by our petition and contacted the italian authorities to ask them to enquiry about the matter. There is a "cartel" between all the italian mobile phone operators that has the same "recharge cost" of 5 euro on the recharges from 20 Euro to 50 Euro.
The Italian authorites had so to start an enquiry, started on 6th June and I was invited in several TV shows and TV news, radio and many newspapers published the news of my petition and my web site www.aboliamoli.eu created in support of the petition.
Now we are waiting the end of the enquiry that should arrive during this month (November). Some mobile phone companies already started to make some promotions partially delete this cost.
Hopefully the enquiry will abolish these costs and they will be only a bad nightmare souvenir.
Thanks to all the signers!!!!
Regards,
Andrea D'Ambra

From Beth Gardner about the Support for Nathan Warmack's Right to Wear his Kilt Petition:

WE WON!

The Jackson R2 School District has issued a formal apology to Nathan Warmack for any embarrassment or humiliation caused by this incident. They acknowledged that the school had no right to require that he remove his kilt or be evicted from the dance. They have instituted ammendments to their dress code to allow for cultural dress at school functions, including class, and they will be distributing flyers outlining the changes to their student population prior to the Senior Prom this Spring. Further, they are instituting cultural sensitivity training for school district employees.

On behalf of Clan Gunn, Nathan Warmack and his parents, Terry and Paula, and the Scottish community worldwide, we would like to thank the Jackson R2 School Board of Jackson, Missouri for showing compassion and wisdom in their decisions! Further, we would like to extend our thanks to Petitiononline.com as well as the thousands of people who supported our petition with their signatures!

From Creed P. Holden about the Miner's Day: Appreciate, Honor and Remember Petition:

The Miner's Day Petition was successful!

House Concurrent Resolution No. 32, Designating December 6 annually as "Miner's Day", was adopted by both the House of Delegates and the Senate of the State of West Virginia during the 2nd Session of the 77th Legislature.

After the petition went online on January 16, 2006, the Resolution was introduced to the House on February 1, 2006 and adopted by the House on February 13, 2006. On February 14, it was introduced to the Senate and was adopted by the Senate on February 16, 2006.

Legislative action was declared complete on February 17, 2006.

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition, to the Legislators who supported and voted for it and especially to Delegate Longstreth, who championed this Resolution.

Congratulations to all for a job well done; accomplished in just one month and one day since the petition started!

From James Barras about the cours facultatifs de chinois au collège Petition:
The petioners weren't many, but it showed to Geneva County departement of the education how motived we were to open and promote mandarin teaching in high schools. Thus, they allowed us to open classes. It's a little step for us, but a big step for the history of Geneva!
From Katherine F. Dolan about the Twin Legislation Bill for New York State Petition:
Our Campaign for Twin Bill legislation in New York and now nationwide was featured on the cover of the New York Times, Feb 24, 2006 and aired last evening on the FOX 5 10pm News. The Petition has reached Albany and our request for Twin Bill Legislation for New York is currently in the investigational stages of being drafted. We anticipate that it will be introduced to the Legislature before the end of the year.
From David Bryan about the Air America Affiliate in New Orleans Petition:
I am happy to say that Air America Radio is broadcasting in New Orleans and has been for some time. To my knowledge, this petition was the first organized effort to bring Air America to Louisiana. (Though, I wouldn't want to suggest that this petition played a direct role in affecting our change, I do know it raised people's awareness.) There are now three Air America Radio affiliates in Louisiana.
From Scott Leipprandt about the District 214 Anti-Book Ban Petition:
My petition was at the District 214 Board meeting, and the final result was 5 votes to 1 in my petition's favor (to not ban books from our high schools). This petition was also talked about in the Chicago Tribune as well as many district 214 high school classrooms. I'm proud of this because I am a sophomore at Prospect High school in Mount Prospect, IL.
From Sammy Shirt and Gerald Tieyah about the Protest the Stereotyping and Exploitation of Indigenous People In Media Marketing Petition:
The petition was a success. It jump started several native activists to contact the company and open a dialogue with the company and the native community.

Thank you.

From Nancy Woodward about the Sci-Fi Channel in Australia Petition:
Australia's very first SCI FI Channel will be launched on 1st Dec 2006. Thank you to all who signed this petition & made it possible for us to get a SCI FI Channel. The official SCI FI Channel website is http://www.scifitv.com.au .
From Bartholumew and Connie Perry about the Bring Dustin Perry Home Petition:
As of 12-14-05 The Judge in Paris Texas decided to let my son come home with us, Thanks to the petition I am sure he saw. I am also sure all the emails directed at him helped as well. All from this petition.
From Aaron Kitashima about the Stop the sale and possible destruction of San Francisco's Japantown Petition:
I feel that my petition, better known as the "Save Japantown" petition, has attracted a lot of attention. Many community leaders acknowlege that they would not be particpating in discussing the issues and problems of the sale of our malls and hotels [without it].

Lately in the newspaper, a deal was made through the City of San Francisco and the new potential buyers to respect and observe a list of policies to preserve the neighborhood. This effort would not have happened without the support of over 17,000+ signatures from all over the world. While the deal is not the best one that the community expects, at least it is a start.

From Joseph Moore about the Tutorial Theft Petition:
Thanks to Petition Online we were able to put our views across and establish the result we needed.
From Michael Dunlap about the Dunedin High School Pipes Petition:
The petition model served as a great outlet for community members to voice their opinions. The School administration was able to see the tremendous support for the piping program. This support, in conjunction with political pressure, reversed decisions and allowed the DHS pipe band to play in the Highland Games, after the school had "suspended" the program. The petition was also presented to the Pinellas School Board for their review of the band director's lack of support of the piping program. The very fact that the band director knew of the petition on-line was enough to place pressure where most needed. Thanks for a very useful tool!
From Jo H about the Lower Mugglenet 10 minute rule Petition:
Mugglenet.com had seen my petition and kindly lowered it to 5 minutes. This was very good of them by responding quickly and now we have to wait half the time! This is what they wrote on the main board:
"On a completely unrelated note, we know some of you don't like the rule we have in place allowing only one comment per person every ten minutes. (Yes, we saw the petition.) The rule exists to keep two or more people from carrying on a conversation, which is precisely why most of you seem to dislike it. But for the 3423423th time: the comment boards are.NOT.chat.rooms. But we are listening, and as a compromise we have lowered the time limit to five minutes instead of ten."

If petitiononline wasn't here, we'd all be hanging around for 10 minutes! Thank you!
