St. Mirren Football Club is not just a football club. It is a vital part of the Renfrewshire community. Clydedale Bank wish to call in the debt they are owed by St. Mirren. However to do this St. Mirren must sell their current stadium in the heart of Paisley and move to Greenhill Road. If the council refuse to give planning permission for a Supermarket on Love Street and also give permission for a new stadium to be built on Greenhill Road then St. Mirren face going to the wall.

St. Mirren attract thousands of supporters from all around the country a year and without St. Mirren people simply would not have the need to travel into Paisley. Remember the scenes at the town hall when St. Mirren won the league title in the Millenium Season. Paisley was transformed into one huge street party.
