Where are Louise and Charmian?

On the 26th April 1980 Louise Faulkner and her toddler daughter Charmian went missing from their flat in Acland Street St Kilda, Victoria, Australia. Shortly before they went missing Louise had informed family and friends that she was going away on a holiday with you at your potato farm in Gippsland. By all accounts Louise was very much in love with you and there was no dispute or doubt that you were the father of Charmian.

After Louise and Charmian’s disappearance you declined to contact Louise’s 3 other young and obviously distressed children. In 1992 you again declined to contact Louise’s children after receiving a bequest from her will. Then in the August 2006 Coronial Inquest into the disappearance and death of Louise and Charmian you refused to take the witness stand in case you incriminated yourself. I am of the opinion that the right to silence is the coward’s way out.

The disappearance and death of Louise and Charmian has caused immeasurable anguish to Louise’s family and friends. As you can imagine this mental torture is endured on a daily basis by Louise’s remaining children.

Violence against women and children can never be justified. As a community we are outraged by the murder of a mother and an innocent child. What makes this crime even more shocking is the fact that Louise and Charmian’s bodies have never been recovered.

I have joined voice with the thousands of other people who believe you know what happened to Louise and Charmian. Mr Sutherland it is time to speak up. Louise’s children, family and friends deserve answers, and at the very least, a proper funeral service for Louise and Charmian.
