WRU Canada Financial Request

To:  Welsh Rugby Union

We the undersigned call on the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) to reconsider the request made by the Canadian Rugby Football Union (CRFU) for a token payment of £0.50 per ticket sold from their game in Cardiff Friday 14th November.

As a top tier Nation it is our duty to help these second tier nations to develop, and this means financially as well as in other ways.

We feel that the WRU has made an error of judgement in flatly refusing this request, which given the revenue for the Autumn series will be above £17M is nothing more than a drop in the ocean.

We also feel that you may have misjudged the will of the Welsh public that support the National team, and support rugby at all levels including volunteering at grass roots clubs across the country. it is, after all people like us who generate the money for the game, and it would be nice to believe that our wishes are considered in matters such as this.

We are formally requesting that the WRU reconsider this request from the CRFU in the interests of Wales and the game as a whole.
