Justice for Swamiji

Respected Sir,

It is to inform your authority that Orissa has recently witnessed a cowardly yet brutal act of violence on the 23rd of August.

Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati was killed in his ashram at Jalespata, Kandhamal district, while performing Janmastami prayers. The murder came close on the heels of a letter warning he would suffer for preventing Hindus from converting to Christianity; in fact, his efforts had caused thousands of tribals to return to the Hindu fold, to the chagrin of the missionaries. He was actively involved in the protection of tribal dharma from aggressive Christian evangelists in the state's tribal belt since 1966. Apart from this he was someone who has in a very noble and saintly fashion raised the downtrodden and long forgotten populace of Kandhamal from ignominy to a state of recognition, pride, and self-sufficiency. The broad daylight murder of such a Mahatma can be considered nothing less than a catastrophe. It isn’t indeed to be forgotten that India has been home to all the religion mankind has known. But the killing of such a great Hindu saint can not and would not be taken for granted.

We beseech your authority to take certain steps to restore our faith in the administration and sense of justice. We hope and believe that these following steps would be taken at your end.
1. Strict action should be taken against the criminals involved in Swamiji's murder.
2. Strong and necessary protection must be provided to the Swamiji in charge of the Ashram.
3. All the unholy acts of conversions must be put to an end and steps must be taken not to give indulgence to any such institutions and organisations.

With the above write up we hope that we have tried to awaken your conscience and souls to a reason that needs to be addressed right now. Failing which we will be answerable to God, the public in general, ourselves and most importantly to the fact that we are Hindustani!!
