PGC should no longer regulate Captive born exotic animals

We the undersigned are in agreement that the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) should stick to their own mission statement: “It shall be the duty of the commission to protect, propagate, manage and preserve the game or wildlife of this Commonwealth and to enforce by proper actions and proceedings, the laws of this Commonwealth relating thereto.” Just like Senate Bill No. 1158 Session of 2001 was passed and removed all domestic elk from the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Game Commission and placed them under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, we would like to see all of the unusual but domestic or tame animals that are born, bred and raised in captivity for generations removed from Game Commission jurisdiction. The PGC claims authority over these animals under Title 34, Subchapter D, Section 2961 - 2965.

The reason we are requesting this change is:
1) PGC has little or no knowledge at all about captive born exotics, including feeding, housing and proper care.
(PGC officers are prohibited by law from owning ANY exotic animal and are not required to have ANY training in that area)

2) PGC’s current laws and regulations are very vague and seem to be written to suit the financial enhancement of the PGC.
(With their new “two year rule”, they have basically made it impossible to legally obtain any type of exotic animal - small or large.) This is interfering with individual’s rights to pursue Agricultural Businesses and will result in underground dealings or animals illegally released into the wild or improperly cared for.

3) The PGC has confiscated and killed many innocent animals - often animals that have been USDA licensed and living in very loving and caring homes with responsible owners.

4) When contacted, the PGC people furnish different answers depending on who you talk to. (This is not only confusing but it leaves many people open for fines).

5) No one at the PGC seems to know exactly what type animals it is supposed to regulate.
