Take That's "Greatest Day in the USA" petition

The "boyband" phenomenon in the global music industry has been a reality for ages. Most boyband members have had their fifteen minutes of fame and faded into oblivion almost immediately after they ceased to be "boys". Efforts at reunions after they reached adulthood often offered nothing more than nostalgia for fans from their heyday. Only one band has been able to protect itself from being a victim of the boyband phenomenon by creating a musical legacy that has truly endured - Take That.

The quartet (formerly a quintet with bad boy Robbie Williams) from Manchester has 10 UK #1 singles to their credit. Their comeback album "Beautiful World" (after a 10-year hiatus from the music industry) topped the UK album charts and spawned 2 UK No. 1 singles ("Patience" and "Shine"). Unfortunately, despite the mass hysteria they created with their triumphant return to the limelight, their album "Beautiful World" did not get its much deserved release in the US.

Their new single "Greatest Day" has hit European airwaves today (October 13, 2008) and their new album is scheduled for release in late November. Contrary to popular belief, Take That has a large and rapidly growing fanbase in the US and this time, the fans want Polydor Records/Universal Music to do right by the fans by arranging for a US release of the new Take That single "Greatest Day" and the new album. US customers are not allowed to make purchases off British online music stores. Denying American listeners of a legal avenue for the purchase of material by their favorite British artists is the type of action that encourages online music piracy that has plagued the recording industry for years. We believe that artists should be financially remunerated for their music. Allow us to do this for Take That and give the rest of the American music listeners a glimpse of what they have missed all these years.
