I was writing an article on if we should spank kids, and so I posted it on Twitter to get some opinions. I was rather shock, as most were pro-spanking. To confirm my fear that most Singaporeans are indeed okay with using the rod, I decided to ask the same question on a variety of other forums, and some of the responses I got really horrified me. Turns out that there are a number of parents here in Singapore who feel that it is okay to not just spank, smack their child, but to also CANE with a stick, rotan or even belt.

Please sign this petition, and forward it to all your friends. We really need to have a law that stops parents from caning their kids. If that is not abuse, then really, what is?

PS: This is not an anti-spanking/spacking petition. It is just an anti caning petition.

PPS: Yes, I was caned a lot as a child, and that's why I know from first hand experience that it does not work! All it does is instill fear and anxiety. Please don't do that to your children.
