Stop the axing of The Bill in Scotland |
To: STV HQThe Bill is a very popular police drama set in the heart of London’s East End, and has been for the last 26 years. Over the years it has had many ups and downs but this year sees it hit its worst.
It was announced in the Scottish News of the world on the 5th of July, that STV (Scottish Television) would be axing the show completely as of the 23rd of July this year. This means that no one in Scotland as of this date will be able to view the show and this is a permanent move.
STV’s reasons for axing the show were, “the show costs too much at £30,000 per episode” and that “we want to replace it with Scottish made programs.” This is appalling and we must stop this from happening.
The viewing figures for the show have been decreasing over the years, but with the axing of it in Scotland it will almost fall by half, meaning the show will be in danger of being axed completely.
I urge you to sign this petition and help prevent STV axing a perfectly brilliant and entertaining show, which is watched and has been watched by generations over the last two and a half decades. Please help support our cause. Thank you.
Sincerely,
