Save The Landmark Cooling Towers!

The demolition of the Tinsley Cooling Towers in Sheffield was announced 0n the 28th September 2006 by its owner’s e.on UK. These towers are historic to Sheffield and symbols of a once great industry in the city. They now provide a landmark gateway to the industrial centre of Sheffield, and are one of the city’s only remaining iconic landmarks. If these towers are to be demolished I know I speak for many people when I say that the city will lose a great part of its identity and the towers will be sadly missed. In the past there have been several plans involving ideas of restoring them as a landmark, which is still just as possible if they are saved. This petition allows the people of the city, and those who know it, to decide what happens to the cooling towers.

We who sign this petition may be either admirers of the structures and the city, Historians, architecture enthusiasts or those who feel for this cause. Either way we strongly believe that the Tinsley Cooling Towers should be saved from demolition.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
