To:  New York Governor, State Senators, and Assembly Peoples

Health Care for All!

- Whereas, millions of working and middle class people in New York State and nationwide are struggling with the high and rising cost and lack of access to health care...

- Whereas, the largest single cause of bankruptcy is health care costs...

- Whereas, we spend $2 trillion per year (about $6,280 per citizen) for health care in the United States yet millions of people are still not covered or receiving the care they need...

- Whereas, a statewide, tax-funded health care system, by sharply reducing administrative costs and excess profits, would provide quality health care coverage to all New Yorkers for less than the total we now spend...

- Therefore, we call on the New York Governor, State Senators, and Assembly People to enact healthcare reform now that:

*Creates a publicly-financed system for all New Yorkers
*Guarantees choice of doctors and providers
*Guarantees health care for everyone independent of employment
*Is paid for by fair taxes based on ability to pay
