We, the residents of Teaneck, New Jersey, believe the federal government has a primary obligation to provide national security. We consider the current War on Terror to be essential to the freedom and security of the United States. The USA Patriot Act of 2001 provides the federal government with the tools to help identify and prevent acts of terrorism within our borders while simultaneously securing safeguards for our civil liberties.

We therefore petition the Teaneck Town Council to respect our national security rights and not pass any resolution advocating either partial non-compliance or opposition of any kind to any part of the USA Patriot Act.
