Sexual Harassment is Wrong

To:  Collier County School Board and Governor Crist

Regarding sexual harassment allegations relating to Collier County, Florida School Board member Richard Calabrese : This behavior is contrary to this communities standards and family values. Mr. Calabrese continues to deny that he did anything wrong. To him this is only a misunderstood joke. This is in fact a very serious matter. Our concern is that Mr. Calabrese may in the future expose female students within this school district to such behavior.

At first Mr. Calabrese turned down an opportunity for anti-harassment training telling us that he does not have a problem and that such training is only for someone who does have a problem. Due to recent pressure Mr. Calabrese has finally agreed to training, but he is still steadfast in his denial. Training will do little good in such circumstances.

We the citizens call upon Mr. Calabrese to resign his position as board member. If this is not forthcoming we call upon the other board members to demand his resignation. If these actions are not taken we call for a recall election or action from Governor Charlie Crist to remove Mr. Calabrese from his elected position.
